Launched in October 2016, Baltimore Bike Share offers “Charm City” residents a new way to commute to and from work during National Bike Month.
Baltimore Bike Share is kind of a big deal. It not only has a “dense network of 50 stations” strategically sprinkled around the city, but it’s also available 24/7 to residents and visitors alike.
And, since it's National Bike Month and all, we thought we'd honor Baltimore Bike Share by sharing some fun facts.
1. It's home to the “largest pedelec (electric-assist) bicycle fleet in North America".
About half of the bikes that make up Baltimore Bike Share are equipped with electric pedal assist, or pedelec. This feature can help riders navigate hilly terrain or commute to work without breaking a sweat.
2. Baltimore Bike Share users have clocked in thousands of miles.
31,276 to be exact.
3. All bikes have GPS.
Whether you opt for the pedelec bike or a traditional 8-gear, you can track your ride with a built-in GPS feature.
4. Harbor East is the most popular station.
Of the 50 stations situated around Baltimore, Harbor East sees the most traffic for both rentals and returns.
5. All bikes are equipped to carry your precious cargo.
Whether you have a big work bag or need to cart groceries home, each bike has a front basket that can carry up to 45 pounds. And, to make things easier on you, the baskets aren’t connected to the front wheel, which makes riding with cargo smoother and safer.
Baltimore Bike Share offers three different passes:
National Bike Month and Baltimore Bike Share are the perfect pair!
