via-logo-b.pngMeet our partner, Via. This on-demand transit app is a great way to commute to work for those that don’t mind sharing the ride with others.

Calling all Chicago, New York City, and DC commuters! Have you tried Via yet? Here’s a bunch of good reasons why you should.

You Can Use Your Commuter Benefits.

Did you know you can use your Commuter Benefits for rides to/from the office with Via? You sure can! When requesting a ride in a vehicle that can sit 6 or more, Via fulfills eligible vanpool requirements. You can find instructions for using Commuter Benefits with Via here.

It’s fast.

According to Via’s website, the average wait time is 5 minutes. Not too shabby. Via also keeps you posted on your ride’s status by “counting down the minutes to your vehicle’s arrival.” You’ll also get text notifications when the “vehicle is two minutes away and again when it arrives.”

It’s affordable.

Costs vary by city. NYC Via users will pay about $5 per ride plus tax. Chicagoans can expect to pay around $3.95 plus any applicable fees. Via is cheapest for DC commuters (just $2.95), where rides are tax free.  And, don’t forget, combining Via vanpool rides with your Transit Benefits makes them tax free. Pickup spots are close by.

Via is a “corner-to-corner” service, so while the pick-up spot won’t be right at your home or office, it’s “usually the corner closest to the pick-up location you requested.”

The Via app is currently available for both iPhone and Android devices.

Ready to get started to Via? You can find step-by-step instructions for creating an account here.
